Application Notes: Controlling Loudness across Broadcast Platforms
With the transition to digital broadcast, unacceptable inter-program level jumps have become more frequent, for instance between programming and commercials or promos. The paper summarizes recent international research in the field, and demonstrates how open standards may be used to improve the situation not just in DTV, but across all broadcast platforms, and at a minimum of station workload and expenditure.
